MUSIC & THE ARTS
“MUSIC FILLS THE INFINITE (SPACE) BETWEEN TWO SOULS.”
— RABINDRINATH TAGORE
The Music & The Arts Committee promotes the cause of music and the arts in society. From world-famous orchestras, conductors and musicians, to scholarships for deserving musicians, the Music & The Arts Committee has tirelessly championed the cause of Classical Music & Dance (Indian and Western), Jazz, Rock, Fashion, Theater, Poetry, and Art.
Several deserving musicians, particularly children, as well as institutions such as the Bombay Chamber Orchestra, the Poona Music Society and the Paragon Charitable Trust for Musical Education for Children have been the direct recipients of this committee’s efforts.
The Poona Music Society has utilised it’s funds to create a program to provide master classes in piano and voice, as well as musical interventions with Western Classical Music, to give a platform to budding musicians of Indian origin.
Music & The Arts not only serve to enhance the culture of a place, but also bring society together in harmony and exposes us to a variety of different cultures and art forms from across the world, to develop a sense of unity through diversity.
The Time & Talents Club was one of the first organizations to bring musicians and artists from different parts of the world to India, thus enhancing bilateral ties and cross-cultural integration.
Funding the education of deserving musicians, providing instruments for the Bombay Chamber Orchestra and encouraging musical education among young children, all serve to keep music and the arts alive and well in our society.
The Time & Talents Club has also partnered with Muktangan, to create and execute a structured musical curriculum for both Western and Indian Classical Music genres, which has been implemented across seven municipal schools, and our funding has contributed towards the purchase of equipment and musical scores for the children to use.
